perhaps a cull
of the human race
is what we need,
what the planet needs.
i can think
of lots of good reasons
why thinning our numbers
by a third or more
would be a good thing,
even if a bit harsh
and painful for many.
the trouble is,
there’s no guarantee
i’d be among the survivors.
or my family and friends.
i would not like that
at all.
in other words,
a massive cull
of the human race
isn’t a bad idea –
as long as i
am in charge
of picking who remains.
after all,
it’s only fair.
