Poemetry by T.A. Barnhart

yes, i am
one of those people
(annoying?)
who asks,
with neither
irony nor shame,
ah, is summer almost over?
while others
long for cloudy days
and even
the rains of autumn,
i  wish every day
were 82 in the shade
with that perfect light breeze
and evenings the need
a long-sleeve shirt
about 9:30.
and it it gets
up near 100
for a few days,
i like that, too:
a great way
to appreciate
82 again.
but, the cooler mornings
remind me
i can’t wait too long
to get ready
for six months
of cold, wet Oregon
autumnwinterspring:
rain & damp & wind & ugh.
for me,
riding a bike
almost every day,
this half of the year
is a bit of a
pain in the ass.
