Poemetry by T.A. Barnhart

it’s a goddamn pain
when wishes come true.
years of longing
and then
the planning
and oh my god
the doing
and then…
it’s done.
the wish has come true.
it happened,
and now,
it’s past tense.
now is the future,
the long-desired dreamworld,
and you are stuck in it.
now what?
be careful what you wish for?
too late, slick.
you wanted it.
you got it.
now you have to not waste
the wish that came true.
what a goddamn pain.
